style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>SYNOPSIS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An der Geschichte der Arbeit lassen sich beispielhaft die Entwicklungen und die Perspektiven der St\u00e4dte ablesen, aber auch die Geschichten und Hoffnungen ihrer Einwohner. Die St\u00e4dte im Ruhrgebiet sind entstanden durch die Gro\u00dfindustrie und auch ihre Zukunft ist aufs Engste verkn\u00fcpft mit dem Schicksal der Industrie. Das Opel-Werk in Bochum steht dabei f\u00fcr die zweite Phase der Industrie im Ruhrgebiet: Seine Gr\u00fcndung ist bereits eine Antwort auf den Verlust der gro\u00dfen Zechenanlagen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jerome, Andr\u00e9, Sinan, Tim, Marius und Marcel sind in der Gruppe des Industriemechanikermeisters Achim Kranz. Sie beginnen ihre Ausbildung, sichtlich stolz, unter einer Gro\u00dfzahl von Bewerbern bestanden zu haben. Die Aussicht auf mehr Eigenst\u00e4ndigkeit, die sich in einer allm\u00e4hlich materiellen Unabh\u00e4ngigkeit manifestiert, l\u00e4sst sie motiviert in die Zukunft schauen. \u2014 Opel, bereits seitens des Mutterkonzerns GM in die finanzielle Schieflage geraten, steht zum Verkauf, ein Bieterkonsortium gibt Angebote ab. Die deutsche Politik versucht, zu vermitteln. \u2014 Die Jugendlichen sind in ihrem anf\u00e4nglichen Eifer positiv gestimmt, weitestgehend von den Verhandlungen in den \u00bbh\u00f6heren Etagen\u00ab nicht besorgt, zumal durch die meist \u00fcber Generationen reichende Zugeh\u00f6rigkeit zum Konzern ein Ende der Marke \u00bbOpel\u00ab fernab struktureller Verschiebungen ungreifbar bleibt. \u2014 Immer wieder kommen Hiobsbotschaften aus den USA, das erste Werk in Belgien wird geschlossen, in Deutschland wird um den Erhalt der einzelnen Werke unter Inkaufnahme von Arbeitsplatzverlusten gerungen. Wenngleich das Unternehmen GM Rekordeinnahmen verbucht, bleibt Opel unrentabel und finanziell angeschlagen. \u2014 Die Ausbildung nimmt unterdessen in der Gruppe immer allt\u00e4glichere Z\u00fcge an. Die Motivation sinkt, erste Zweifel werden zaghaft ge\u00e4u\u00dfert; einerseits ausbildungsbedingt, andererseits mehren sich Perspektiv\u00e4ngste, die von mehr oder weniger bestandenen Tests und dem Druck der anstehenden Pr\u00fcfungen gepr\u00e4gt sind. Die Frustrationsschwelle sinkt zudem unter dem Einfluss der Nachrichtenlage um Opel. Nichtsdestotrotz l\u00e4sst Kranz nicht davon ab, seine Gruppe in Gespr\u00e4chen mit viel Verst\u00e4ndnis und Einf\u00fchlungsgabe auf das Leben vorzubereiten. An die Stelle des einst sicher geglaubten oder zumindest erhofften Arbeitgebers tritt allm\u00e4hlich ein bisher unbekanntes Wertespektrum, gepr\u00e4gt von Flexibilit\u00e4t, Weiterbildung und steter Ungewissheit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ARBEIT HEIMAT OPEL kontrastiert den Alltag der Auszubildenden im Werk II mit den Geschicken von GM und Opel auf der Weltb\u00fchne auf zwei scheinbar voneinander losgel\u00f6sten Ebenen. Trotz ihrer r\u00e4umlichen als auch medialen Distanz ber\u00fchren und \u00fcberschneiden sich die beiden Ebenen immer wieder und verkn\u00fcpfen globale Weichenstellungen und lokale
